The "rules" for using presentations in teaching.

When creating a presentation to use as a teacher there are some important rules that we should follow.  Only use a presentation when it is appropriate and fits the topic in discussion.   Don't use font that is hard to read.  Keep it simple.  Don't copy and paste.  Don't be afraid to use slides.  Leave things for you to say.  Don't just read the things that you have on the power point and call it good.  Do allow time for discussion on each of the topics presented.  Make what is being presented interesting.  Do change the background color.  Don't overload the slides.  If we incorporate these rules when creating our power point presentations then we can expect to have a successful presentation.

Google Tools

Today in class we explored all the tools that google has to offer. The first tool that I feel would help me as a teacher in the class room would be YouTube.  As a dance teacher this will help me to exand my students awareness of what dance is.  I can show video clips of historical dance or cultural dance.  I can show different styles of dance.  By using YouTube I am visually showing my students these examples and not trying to verbally articulate the art form.  The second tool that I feel would help me would be google sites.  Here I can make sure that my students have all the information that they need to be successful in class.  I can use other google tools to enhance this tool.  I can use google docs to post assignments or presentations.  Also I can use google calenders to post important due dates.  The last tool that I feel would help with incorporating technology into the classroom would be googel groups.  With this tool I can create groups in each of my classes and have them have class related discussions from home.
